Just a thought: if Google now offers "the right to be forgotten", shouldn't EMD do the same?

No - EMD and the Hotel California - both the same.

Can you explain your comparison to the Hotel California? Are you referring to a film that follows three professional criminals in Los Angeles, or to the Eagles album described as a metaphor for the perceived decline of America into materialism and decadence ?

Well the problem is if you delete threads someone has posted in and it has replies everyones post count drops that posted in it and if you just delete the posters account it looks strange (They show up as GUEST which looks kinda weird in the thread)

Yeah, some programs simply aren't designed with that possibility in mind. EMD just uses an off-the-shelf program called vBulletin, so if the program doesn't support deleting user accounts without messing up all sorts of other things, there's not much that the admins can do.

Google doesn't "offer" it out of good will, they were forced to do so by the authorities in certain jurisdictions and they're doing the bare minimum necessary to comply with such orders. There is no such thing as a worldwide "right to be forgotten", only a bunch of court orders to hide certain search results from users in certain regions. Nothing's really getting deleted from Google's servers.

IMHO, that's irrelevant to the post by janusz - the "offer" is available.
