Fastmail + Yubikey
Has anyone used Fastmail with Yubikey?
Is it good and easy to use? Does it just protect the webmail? If yes and you have this activated doe this mean you can not access faatmail via a client such as Mac Mail or Outlook etc? Also what about access on a BlackBerry if you have activated Yubikey. Further if you also want to use a service such as lastpass.com with a Yubikey does it mean you need to carry 2 Yubikeys or can the 1 Yubikey be used to work Fastmail and Lastpass? Thanks |

After FM enable the use of Yubikey here there have been a few threads with the users discussing it's use. I did an EMD search setting it to 1 year, posts and the FM forums. Following is a couple of links for just some of them.
Yubikey Discount + Grid Multifactor Authentication Get a 40% Yubikey discount...not just FM's 25%? There were other results in the search and others using it may also respond here. Oh, here's a link to one of the threads on LastPass. LastPass and Secure FM login Sherry |

However, even if you use a Yubikey with Fastmail you will still have a master password to you Fastmail account which basically means that you will use the Yubikey to thwart keyloggers on public computers since the Yubikey is a one time password generator. That means that you may still log in from other external clients that does not support the Yubikey since you may use your master password. Im not sure I understand your question about Yubikey and Lastpass but you have two slots in the most recent model of the Yubikey. You may set one slot for one time passwords and the other for a static password for your Lastpass account. If Lastpass supports the Yubikey you may use one time password instead of a static password. Hope that helps! Btw, I think the Yubikey integration with email services is great. Security minded email services like Hushmail and so on should definitely implement it. |
