Windows Live Mail
I have domain mail hosted at live.com. In the set up procedure they recommend setting up a "Text Rccord"
My Domain Value: v=spf1 include:hotmail.com ~all TTL: 3600 or 1 hour (if requested Can some knowledgable person please explain how to do this? It isn't mandatory, the service works without this but this setup is supposed to prevent mail from my domain being labeled spam or something similar. |

This is a "Sender Policy Framework" record that says to other mailservers that mail from your domain that doesn't originate at hotmail.com should be not trusted as much.
Do you send all mail through Hotmail servers? If you don't, you may want to think about what your SPF policy is. |

Thanks kaptitsky for your response. Think I will disregard this feature as the mail seems to work ok with out it. Thanks for explaining it to me as I had no clue what it meant.

If you do decide you are interested in it, see http://openspf.org/ for more information.

Thanks Scott for the info. It will take a while to digest the description and then make a decision whether to proceed further.
