Lightning speed!
This morning Fastmail is operating at lightning speed. I do not seem to figure out on what server I am. The URL shows:
http://www.fastmail.fm/mail/~xxxxxxxxxxxxx Is this server 5? Is this a new server? Any news in this department? By the way, I am not complaining... |

Yesterday and today the speed of fastmail has been quite incredible. I am totally amazed. I mean, it was always quick, the no image approach ensures that you never have frustrating placeholders with ALT text, but this is incredible. I am on server5 which I guess may have something to do with it...
(Just thought it would be nice to continue this positive thread) Cheers Guys, keep it up |

Thanks Norbs. Actually, all the servers should have the great speed now--we've moved enough people off the other servers onto server5 so that they are all well below capacity.

Make sure you do not overload server 5. We do not want a deterioration of speed...

I should've guessed you could test all this stuff... I never cease to be impressed... Hehe, I bet you get paged if FM-speedometer dips below a certain threshold too..
How dynamic is this "load balancing" then? Is the intention to transfer people from server to server frequently, or is it going to be a review every couple of months to even things up? Either way, its good stuff |

Croeso i Caerdydd!
(I think that's Welsh for "Welcome from Cardiff"...)
I'm at the Mind National Conference (which is why I'm using my backup ID — so that I don't lose my "unread thread" indicators; I won't have time to read through all the threads until I get back to London). The cybercafé here is rather Heath-Robinson (only one 56K line for five terminals), hence things are s-l-o-w; but even so, FM is noticeably a lot faster than other sites (more noticeably so than when on a fast connection, in fact)... |
