Hmmm now, I think I've already been activated (thanks).
One minor bug: If I search for a subject string surrounded by quotes (so I get the exact phrase), it works, but the search box then contains 'subject: (', rather than 'subject("Search Phrase")' as I would have expected. |

Could you put the same request here: http://blog.runbox.com/2010/11/new-m...earch-in-beta/
Then I will have your email address (it will not be visible). Kim |

Generally great apart from it has a limit of 100 items?
Is there a technical reason for that? It's frustrating as it's not even the most recent 100 items (which would be most useful). I'm guessing it's there to stop a performance hit, but does that mean that it wouldn't be such a great utility if I'm expecting 1000 items, but trying to find the one I received in July 2008...? |

First, you should see the latest results. We went from relevancy to time ranking.
The reason we only offer that few results right now is that we want to monitor load and maybe increase it over time. To solve this issue, we could apply a timeframe to advanced search. Kim |

![]() In short it's because searching goes through two steps. First the index is searched which returns a set of message IDs. Then these messages are fetched from the database. The problem was that the message IDs returned from the index weren't sorted properly. This is fixed now, but all indexes must be rebuilt. This shouldn't take too long, so please test later! We'll still have to live with some limitation to the number of messages fetched from the index, but we'll consider increasing it a bit. |

OK that's better (ie most recent items are returned now).
As for the 100 limit... Firstly, can it say somewhere that it's limited to 100? So instead of "100 items found in /", it'll say "Most recent 100 items found in /", or if it's not hard (although not a priority): "Most recent 100 of 1000 items found in /" (where 1000 is the total that were found to match the given criteria. Also, it really would be nice to be able to get all results returned somehow. Perhaps default is 100, but you can set a parameter that lets you search them all etc |

![]() You can now enable the new search function by using this link:
http://beta.runbox.com/mail?enable_new_search=1 If you happen to have a lot of messages in your account that you do not need indexed (such as spam), we recommend that you delete them first to speed up the initial indexing. Any feedback is welcome! - Geir |
