Down for me too. Both webmail and SMTP. I guess it's one service I won't be renewing.

Right now, once again:
Webmail down, IMAP working. Thanks. David. |

Hi!
Is SMTP down at the moment? I suddenly can't authenticate? Thanks. D. |

It works for me, but for several days mails I send from my domains via Cotse have been failing SPF. The SPF record that had worked for several months suddenly stopped working.

![]() Hi!
For at least the last hour or two, Cotse has been so slow as to be almost inaccessible both by IMAP and Webmail. Timeouts. All of my other Internet resources seem to be functioning fine. I am in Western Asia. Anyone experiencing similar problems? Thanks. David. ***** Update: As far as I can tell, everything on the cotse.net domain now times out, as does at least one of their alternative domains. Thanks again. D. This is getting annoying. It's been several hours now that for practical purposes, I can't get at my email.
I did send him an email a few hours ago, in case he doesn't check the servers first thing when he wakes up. I hope he has enough sense to use for Cotse's own email accounts MXs - or alternate MXs - completely independent of his own servers, just for situations like this. T D ************ Update: Just got this from Steve: "Line issues, perhaps due to storm, are affecting our mail network. They are working on it and told us it would be resolved this am." Working here now, too.
************************ Update: Dead again! Webmail doesn't connect at all, and IMAP is too flaky to allow email to be downloaded or read (though I can sometimes get a list of the folders). T D Last edited by DavidJ : 19 Jan 2011 at 02:06 PM. Reason: Update |

Interesting. I went to cotse.net on the web just to take a look and it seems to be down. But mail.cotse.net seems to be up and responding to pings. Is this a paid provider? They seem rather unreliable for a for-fee service, judging by this thread...

It is indeed a paid provider, and as far as uptime goes, it is indeed less reliable than it should be, but it also has its virtues.
It is not all that unusual for parts of the Cotse system to be up while others are down, as you can see by the history of this thread. I would also not trust ping to give useful information about a server which is very flaky at the moment of the test. I have frequently seen cases where four short default ICMP packets get through in both directions when no useful information can. Good luck. D. |
