Nothing special, really.
To me it's just an ordinary 1G email with Roundcube interface. There's something extras that might seem special to others though which is the unlimited aliases. I rarely use it as I feel it might not be sustainable in the long run but of course it stays strong until now so let's see ![]() |

Looks like they’ve decided to stop their customised email service

"UPDATE September 2024: oh by the way, if you get banned on RiseUp (and maybe even if you simply delete your account), your previous aliases become available for others, meaning someone might end up receiving sensitive communication meant for you! This is an insanely big vulnerability. For now, the only way to prevent it - as far as I can see - is to just not get banned. And obviously don't pick alias names that someone else might want to use. If you do end up getting banned, inform your contacts that your addresses are possibly compromised. This really sucks for an otherwise great service."
This is very worrying unless they would specifically specify what actions can lead to getting banned. I would stay away from this type of service anyways, because I wonder how long it would stay around. From what I understand it's linked to certain activist organisations, so the moment those organisations would be in poor management the attached email service would become unstable too, or disappear alltogether. |

But if you already use RiseUp email, than you can easy update all accounts that use it as login (replace with different email) and inform all your contacts not to use this email before you get banned. Then don't use this account for sending emails except one email every xxx months to test@mailinator.com to keep it active. In general, don't use politically affiliated emails ("Activists email services") unless you use it within your "inner circle" affiliated with the same political group or ideology. |

Funny, I was thinking that I haven't seen any mentions of Rise Up in a long time.
I don't mean here - I mean in the media. |
