Edwin has already stated, multiple times, that because using hacks makes upgrading the forum software a nightmare (because to maintain the non-standard features the members have become accustomed to using, after doing the install itself all the hacks have to be re-applied), any request for a feature which requires any kind of hack, and not just a configuration change, is definitely not on.

imho the op is not explicitly requesting a hack but coverying all the bases of suggestion which requests adding XMPP Texting info to one's profile.

In my book the terms "mod" and "patch" both refer to altering the software itself, and thus are synonyms of "hack" (in the original sense of "program", in this context "alter the progrm you have", not the tabloid sense of "illegaly bypass security" for which the correct term is "crack"). As I said, and as Edwin himself has reaffirmed in a recent post, this isn't going to happen; one man, one vote — he's the man, and his is the vote.

Of course, if the links you give are to configuration-change instructions rather than hacks, then it might happen; but it's still up to Edwin, and given that he has already vetoed other things which are just config changes, such as sigs, avatars and skins, it doesn't seem likely.
