How long to transfer mail from one account to another?

I have a Yahoo account with POP access(it's old enough to have that).

I want to transfer all the email to Gmail.

I'm hoping it happens soon 'cos yahoo email accounts are a ticking time bomb really, getting hacked left right and centre every day from exploits yahoo is leaving open.

All gmail says is "checking mail..."

I unchecked leave mail on server or whatever that option is called.

how long might it spend checking mail. most things with pop mail it'd just read them all off one by one as soon as it is asked to. So if the option was to not leave them on server, they'd get eaten off one by one and you'd see it. And if the option was to leave them on, then you'd at least see the current/dest gmail account gathering the email.

Here it just says "checking". How long might this take -before it starts-?!

done now, didn't transfer folders though.

I don't know how long it took, maybe 20min
