Has your email been hacked?

Has your email ever been hacked? I've read a lot of accounts on various forums of people who have been phished/hacked and lost important stuff and sometimes their entire email account. However, most of the time it seems the people have done obvious things wrong with their security, and/or they really don't understand security very well. Since most people here seem to be much more knowledgeable about best practices I wonder if anyone has been hacked and what is your story?

So far all "No." I have never been hacked/phished, but I know several people that have. Just the other day I received a suspicious email from a former coworker apparently sent from her former work address. I contacted the organization and the person is no longer there, but somehow her former work email is being used to send out malicious emails. I read recently that nearly all Microsoft 365 business customers have suffered email breaches of one sort or another:https://www.techradar.com/uk/news/ne...-data-breaches

One phishing attack I received recently said they had my password and they provided some random password. They said they stole it when I logged into some porn site which I don't do. Apparently they just spray these messages around the Internet and someone must click on them or else they would soon fade away. At work I have more than once stopped a fellow employee from responding to an obvious scam. Many people are very gullible.

It might not be random, but randomly chosen from a list of frequently used passwords. And then when sending it to millions of recipients, some recipients will see their own password and panic.

To date I have never had my email hacked. I've been using email for a long time.

I know quite a few who have had there accounts compromised. Weak passwords, clicking on links, etc.
