Seems like sounds points. Counterpoints that may may or may matter:
  1. the historical ham/non-spam collection can potentially still be meaningful, especially given...
  2. a major portion, maybe even a majority of our email addresses are sender-specific (eg: amazon.com@mydomain.tld)

This might (emphasis on _might_) lend more weight to historical ham, maybe even historical spam. Alas, the historical spam points below (again) seem quite meaningful, and (at least) something to understand and keep in mind. Might be another point to support focusing on non-Bayesian-spam management tactics. Thanks!

I have a huge spam collection, some of it dating almost 20 years ago, but I don't think it's worth anything as training material for a spam filter. My spam collection is as useful as my wife's stamp collection. Perhaps in the future some of it would be worth something... I have some rare spam from exotic senders...
