The obvious alternative is
Email Questions, and it is running up to date software.

The only way that could work is if interested EMD forum members check out Email Questions, register to use, and actively participate.
BTW, for those that don't know, a few years ago (in 2013) I set up a
EmailDiscussions Twitter account, when there was a problem accessing the forum, because I didn't want to lose touch with other EMD forum members if the forum disappeared.
