Fastmail Files
 

For mail folders, one can go to Settings > Folders to view the amount of storage being used in each mail folder. Is there a similar feature for the folders of Fastmail Files?

Not that I can see.

The Settings - Folders option is barely usable. One can't as far as I can see export the list of folder names and sizes, nor for example temporarily sort the display by folder size (which would at least allow you to see the biggest ones easily).

WARNING: do not click the "Sort All Alphabetically" button at the foot of the list - in the past people who have done that have permanently lost their hierarchical arrangement of folders and subfolders.

Of course one can save the whole HTML page but parsing the size info out of the html doesn't look easy. Also, when I saved the "page" it only contained details of the first 20 or so of my folders.

Thanks, Jeremy. I ended up using rclone's ncdu tool to get a nice graphical display of my folders by size.

It's on my list of interesting bits of software that might solve problems for me, if I can only find the time to experiment with it. Thanks for the suggestion.

Up until recently, maybe 12 months ago, there was a facility to see the size of each file folder.
But this seems to have gone.
You can sort your file folders in size order, but the actual size of the folder is not displayed.

Another feature removed. :(

The old facility used to be on the same page that you could archive/purge/check folder size for the email folders.
Even this functionality has been deprecated to just "downloading" the emails in an email folder (equivalent to the old "archive" feature).

I have WEDAVed my Fastmail files so usually I just use Windows Explorer to see what's what. I also can FTP to the files, but I rarely do.

But does native Windows Explorer show you file folder size?

Strangely no. Only the file size. :(

Unless you ask Windows for the folder's properties. Then it reports the total size.

Historically, the Windows program IMAPsize worked well. However, the last time I tried the program under Windows 10, it did not seem to be working (though I did not investigate why, and maybe it can still be made to work).

IMAPSize worked with file storage?

Files' API is WebDAV, so unlass IMAPSize can speak WebDAV, it wouldn't at least work with the current implementation.
