Cool New domains

Note that these domains are still being registered by our registrar; they should all be working in a couple of days

Here's a nice big bunch of new domain names that you can use. Your address is currently active in all of these domains, although in the next month or so we're going to ask you to pick just one domain (2 for members, more for subscribers) from this list or the original 7 domains. You can also pick from these domains in the Aliases screen. There's some quite good domains here--which do you like?

I'm particularly pleased to have registered imap-mail.com. Also we've finally got a 3-char domain in a common TLD (ml1.net) and the rather cool nospammail.net. Oh, and an address in "internet-mail.org" sounds very official, don't you think?...

I'm partial to ftml.net. It kinda rhymes with html and I like .net for mail. So..right now I'm using regular username at fastmail.fm and mywholename at f-m.fm, which I like too. That's all. Other than that it's all forwards to become personalities. Can I have all three or do I have to give up one to use the other? No biggie either way..

That's a nice selection. We'll need to know exactly how many domains we'll be allowed to select at the various levels. Then, the Alias screen should allow us to select those domains for the Target listbox. Finally, it would be helpful if the Alias screen gave us the capability to modify an alias by changing the target and alias name of an existing alias.

I like xsmail.com the best.

Another favorite is ml1.net

Unhappy tried but........

I tried to create an alias myalias_at_xsmail_dot_com but this came up so I guess I am out of luck.
Guest level users can't have aliases. You must upgrade your account.

Each extra domain is treated as another alias. The number of aliases you qualify for is here: http://www.fastmail.fm/docs/pricingtbl.html .

The target of an alias must always be your account, so there's no point adding this popup to the target.

You can modify an alias by removing it and then re-adding it. I know that's a little be clumsy, but unfortunately it's hard to support editing using our existing table validation routines.

At this stage you don't. And there's no need to. Your aliases and username are currently active in every domain. When we add the 'home domain' feature, this will be an issue. To change your alias at that time, remove your existing alias and add back your new one.

Wink My picks

Dear Jeremy,

I must say I'm impressed. I especailly like mailhaven.com, emailuser.net, and fastmailbox.net. (BTW, that last one is interesting; could that FastMail/Runbox merger be closer than we thought? ) Also, it's been pointed out in various other threads that whenever any provider that has a lot of great domains they usually give rotten or overpriced service (or both). You guys have an obligation to continue to be the trend-setters you've been so far.

Best wishes,
David P.

At FastMail.FM we're very tight on our purse-strings. While many providers spend big money on purchasing domains from domain speculators, we have purchased every one of our domains from the standard pool. So each one has only cost us $8.95. I don't think the expense is going to drive us to cutting corners elsewhere...

Jeremy, I think you were being a bit too polite in the above answer; instead of "domain speculators", I think "cybersquatters" is a more accurate term... (and appropriately rude...)

you got some bargains, i reckon.

yepmail.net

mailworks.org is nice too...

the problem with the nospammail domain is that people usually assume they're supposed to REMOVE the 'nospam' part to de-munge the address... don't they?
