You will FARE better getting some dedicated buddies to assist raising the dipole. An 80 meter Amateur band dipole is a half-wavelength long (40 meters, about 135 feet). It's much easier with one or two friends!

And my Kenwood TS-850SAT HF transceiver is in a metal case. The only radios in wooden cases produced after about 1940 were for consumer use.

I would agree with your synopsis Bill and will certainly get help.The 80 meter band is a little noisy for me, so I would not dare to use it. 40 meters I can manage

The dedicated tools I will likely use are a bucket of stones (to hang over a tree branch) - for tension, and a washing line pulley.
