Thanks, now we just need someone who can phone him, maybe a german user (i guess it is cheaper when you call from a german phone to another one)
Edit: Armin Arh did not connect to the Net since 15 January (not sure), no trace about him (in mailgroups) since that date. That's exactly 2 months. Something must have happened; plus, if the IMAP server is good, you may agree that someone need to pay for it (to stay online), or at least (if the server was rent for a year), to renew the domain (in about 7 months). I think that a phone call is needed in this case (if something happened we will know it immediatly). I still hope thou that nothing happened, just some long (loooong) holidays Last edited by Luzo : 14 Mar 2007 at 08:33 AM. |

ReuvenNY,
Inspector Columbo would have been proud of you! Oops, Luzo beat me to the punch. At least this shows people are following this saga in the hopes of finding some answers. |

Maybe we don't have to phone him. There is a possibility he is very stringent on how he see his part of it. At least that is the impression I get from this post in another thread here at EMD. I try to link to it.

drew, I may totally understand you if there was not a big problem in that story. Let me explain this stuff. If we had no webmail on PubBox, that would be okay (at least for me), but maybe you noticed that we also have NO support, no answer from the one who created PubBox, Armin Arh. I don't see the link between not having a webmail and not having support (support is usually done by mail).
In that case, you may agree that something happened to the owner, cuz at least he would have said here (or on any other board, or even by mail) that there were no webmail anymore. |

Just an update:
I tried calling the number listed under his contact information and I had no luck. I could not get through. Kept getting the "does not exist" message. Hmm... |

There is a students website in Karlsruhe. It has an entry from 18th January which says Armin Arh is dead, and that he was killed in an accident with a car.

Armin Arh works in Shlunde.de with a guy called Thorsten Ziegler (thorsten.ziegler(at)gmail.com or zig(at)schlund.net), who lives also in Karlsruhe. Maybe we should contact him to confirm/infirm the information that Donat said.

Googled this myself and found the same link, but you guys posted it faster.
This is horrible horrible news. My prayers to his family... P.S.: I still think we should try to contact his work buddy to get a confirmation before we let everyone on these forums know about this. |

Sad news
I do agree, I think maybe a message of Synpathy form could be set up and then once everything is colleced send it to his family, as a mark of respect from the community here, which I think his family would love, I am just wondering if anyone can just get hold of the server details and take the service over and get it running at the best it can as a way of remembering him by taking on what he sadly left behind and run it as he would have done so it's a lasting memoy for his family.
[Edwin: Would this be possible following the tragic circumstanses, and would you be prepapred to send it out by post to his family, on behalf of the community.] |

No surprise... you don't leave your "baby" for two months to go on vacation.
Anyway, has anyone else been through this? How will his business survive? Does not look like he had a backup plan. It is too bad.... |
