Yes, this is what happens with my OE6 and Outlook 2002. If your Outlook 2000 puts it in the trash, have you tried setting it to "Empty the deleted items upon exiting" (Tools > Options > Other) on logout? As for your previous question, I personally like OE better than Outlook and the general consensus here seems to be that its IMAP support is much better.
