Okey Dokey

Yeah, I hear you about installing NS 6.21... I wouldn't mess with it if you don't want the extras.

Jeremy: yes, I could roll up INBOX and not worry about it. I may do that or I may go back to using some other client.

I was the same person having issues with Eudora (detailed toward the end of a thread about Eudora and SSL problems). I'm thinking that maybe there's a file I can edit in Eudora to get it working right.

I had the same problem, but if I recall correctly, I simply deleted the nested subfolders under "Inbox", restarted Netscape, and everything worked fine. I no longer have any subfolders in "Inbox", and the other other folders are displayed correctly at the same level. Maybe a WARNING: DO BACKUP YOUR EMAILS in the subfolders you delete. I believe to remember that deleting the subfolders under "Inbox" resulted in deleting the corresponding folders at the "Inbox" level. After re-creating them at the correct level, move the backup emails into the correct folders.

I use Netscape 6.2.1.

Red face CAREFUL!

Let me reiterate Markus' warning. Doing what he described will DELETE THOSE FOLDERS AND ALL CONTAINED EMAIL ON THE SERVER!

How do you delete the Trash folder?

How do you delete the trash folder that is a sub-folder of inbox?

Oh boy, if I would only have a better memory... I remember also having had problems with the "trash" subfolder.

Did you try to log into fastmail using the web interface and deleting the "trash" subfolder there (if existing)?

I might have also tried to remove the "trash" subfolder on my local disk (i.e. in Netscape's "ImapMail" directory and the corresponding server subdirectory).

WARNING: AS BEFORE - ALWAYS BACKUP YOUR EMAILS FIRST! PLAYING WITH THESE THINGS CAN DELETE EMAILS FROM YOUR SERVER (although you might accept that emails in the "trash folder" are deleted

Let us know how it goes - you CAN get it work properly using Netscape (6.2.1).

Jeremy, I now see your posts in the Moz mail-news NG. I'm so glad you're involved. Getting server-side people involved in the open source project should be a big part of the "win back the web" dream! Many bests, Nigel L

Nigel, I don't follow it religiously, because it's too big a project for me to put in the time I'd need to make a real difference.

So if something comes up over there which us IMAP power users and server providers could help with, feel free to post something here too to get any feedback you need.
