Scheduled server upgrade and service disruption

We will perform an infrastructure upgrade of the email system Wednesday July 22. at approximately 10 AM CET (4 AM EST).

During the upgrade, which we estimate will take around 1/2 hour (probably less), all Runbox email accounts will be inaccessible, but incoming email will be queued on our servers for subsequent delivery.

The upgrade consists of a new fiber optic switch that will ease the transition to the new application servers and storage units that are currently being set up.

We apologize for the short notice and any inconvenience caused.

Reminder: We will be performing this upgrade shortly.

The web interface will be inaccessible during the upgrade, while some users (around 40%) whose home directories are not on the affected servers will still be able to check email via POP or IMAP.

We'll keep you posted.

We're a little delayed but are almost ready to shut down the affected servers now.

We are almost done with the tasks that require downtime so we should be able to allow web access again shortly.

I'll post back once I know more -- perhaps you could make that two cups.

The server upgrades are now completed and web access is restored.

We'll now start working on the fiber optic switch, but this will not require downtime.

Please let us know if you notice any irregularities, and thanks for your patience.
