Clicking on the link in zhak's post above (Rob's original thread on evolving Folders) is see where NJSS there had already expressed an interest in something myself and another, I think, expressed here: http://www.emaildiscussions.com/showpost.php?p=415459

One additional feature which I would like is the option to set a default for the number of folders to display.
So, I am wondering if this is being considered. If not, would it be due to aesthetics or would it be non-intuitive generally speaking or to new users, or ...?

Re the [Delete] button: Maybe left rather than right side of 'Custom Folder Properties' column above or below the [Edit] in one of the yellow bars (left top or bottom of the column)?

Any chance of some different sort orders. One of my folders is a "todo" list, and I like to me able to sort it my the receiving email address.

Also could we have options to preview be more than one line.

I did not read this entire post but I did search for the word sort and it was not found. So apologies if this has been requested already. Don't flame me please.

Folders are a nice addition by the way!

I might add extra sort options at some stage, not right now.

There should be a 1 line or 3 line preview option.

I like the new folder features. This is a great addition. Keep up the great work. Fastmail has more and better features than any other web-based service or e-mail client.

I still say sort by flag is a "must".

There's still the "View: flagged" link you can click on the mailbox screen to immediately filter and show only flagged messages.

Is what you want though "sort by flagged, then by received" or something like that?

I was thinking of "sort by flagged, then by received" so the flagged messages float to the top. You can get this by clicking the "flag" column, but it doesn't stick. It gets super annoying to have to click that every time I reload the folder.

I think "sort by flagged" should be one of the options for default folder sorting. Or even better just have each folder remember the last way you sorted it.

"empty link"?

I tried putting an "empty link" on my Trash and Junk Mail folders, but I can't find any difference. I grepped for "empty" in the mailbox display page source, and it's not there (except for the "empty trash" pulldown menu item). Am I misunderstanding the function of the "add empty link" folder preference?

Didn't your Trash and Junk Mail already have empty links by default (since before the new folder options release)? Mine do. Did you disable them, then try to turn them back on again?

You must use the Set Properties button to cause a change after you change any item on the Folder Properties screen. And I agree with Dave -- [Empty] links were originally on your Junk Mail and Trash folders, so if they are not there now you must have deleted them in the past. You can add them back as I have described.

I swear on all that is sacred, in 6 years I have never seen an "Empty" link, never turned them off, turning them on has no effect, toggling them has no effect, and hitting "Save Properties" has no effect (except to retain the setting). Here is a screenshot:

When viewing your mailbox list, click on the [+] to the left of the word 'Folder'.

Ugh. Thanks. Well then. If you'll please excuse me, I'm off to Feature Requests. I need to see a man about a horse. Good day. ;-)
