Listening to AaRON (abbreviation of "Artificial Animals Riding on Neverland" -- no joke), a French band. Several songs passed by the last 15 minutes, of which I like "Angel dust" and "Le tunnel d'or" most.

"Le tunnel d'or" is the only song in their native French on their debut album, but it has very poetic lyrics:

Et mes rêves s'accrochent à tes phalanges
Je t'aime trop fort, ça te dérange
Et mes rêves se brisent sur tes phalanges
Je t'aime trop fort...
Mon ange...

(and my dreams hang on your phalanxes
I love you too much, it bothers you
And my dreams break on your phalanxes
I love you too strongly…
My angel...)

I wonder if the phalanx reference is metaphorically or refering to a relationship going wrong and ending in domestic violence. I hope it's not the latter...

"Ghost love score" - Nightwish

A 10 minutes long epic piece of symphonic metal with progressive undertones. I adore the first 5 lines of the lyrics, so mysterious and romantic

"We used to swim the same moonlight waters
Oceans away from the wakeful day

My fall will be for you
My fall will be for you
My love will be in you"

Slowdive - When the sun hits

I know there was My Bloody Valentine, but to me shoegaze started with Slowdive. MBV has a bit of an aggressive wall of sound, Slowdive has the same wall of sound but makes it sound dreamy. While definitely not "soft" or "calm" music, this is ideal to dream away to. "Souvlaki" was such an underrated album.

When I saw Slowdive live, they played Alison and then When The Sun Hits, and reached the same perfection as on album, including the heavenly collision of male and female vocals in the outro. Those two songs alone made me want to instantly see more Slowdive concerts. Next tour I'll be there again.

A Shoreline Dream , a band I only discovered today despite them being active already for quite a while.

Listening to their song "Waitout" from their most recent EP now. Very dreamy music, the lyrics are almost undecipherable, but it just doesn't matter with this type of music. I listen to music like this to have the feeling of floating into a blissful daydream.
In some way, this reminds me a tiny bit of Slowdive, although there's enough differences between both bands.

Wot, no Snow Patrol?

They've been mentioned in a different thread (but not this song) by Tsunami, amongst his (IMHO) interesting choices.

The Cure playing now. First "Charlotte Sometimes", then "A forest".

"Charlotte Sometimes" has very dreamy lyrics. There's a slightly autistic side to that song.
Sometimes I dream when all the other people dance...
Charlotte sometimes dreams a wall around herself

Very recognisable for me, as a person with Asperger Syndrome and being a fanatic daydreamer...

Now switching to Echo & The Bunnymen - "All my colours (zimbo)"
Listening to the live version from the "Live in Liverpool" album, which IMO is even better than the studio version.

All my colours turn to clouds...

Epic band.

Thank you

I adore the song "Run" by Snow Patrol. They have several good songs, but that one really stands out to me. It is heavily misinterpretated as a love song, while the vocalist of the band said in an interview it was written as a "get yourself back on track" message to himself when he went through a very dark phase personally. But I'm sure the band is fine with whatever way people interpretate it, as long as it moves people.

I lived in Northern Ireland for 2 years, but never knew Snow Patrol beforehand. It was during a colleagues night out that someone asked to put on a Snow Patrol song. I went to the jukebox and picked the first song of them I could find, and that happened to be "Run". When the song started playing, I was impressed immediately.

But "Chasing cars" is a nice song too, very romantic. And I rarely turn down a good romantic song.
