As Bruce says, the total quota usage is shown at the bottom of the folder list on the main page. On one of my accounts, I see:

Storage is 55% full
Using 13763 MB of 25000 MB

But I think you want to know the usage by each individual folder. To see this:
  • Click Edit in the lower left below the folder list on the main message listing page.
  • You will then see a list of all of your folders.
  • To the right of the folder name is the number of messages, with the number of unread messages in bold (parenthesis), such as:
    100(10)
This shows that you have 100 messages in that folder. 10 of them are unread, so 90 have been read.
  • To the right of the message count the size of all messages in that folder is shown.
  • If there are subfolders of a folder, you can click the right-arrow at the left of the folder icon to show the subfolders. Each subfolder will show the number of messages and their total size
  • To return to your normal message view, click <-Back to mail in the upper left of the screen.
The help has not been updated yet and I no longer use any accounts which only support POP, so I can't confirm whether POP links still work for me. When I set up Outlook retrieval in Settings>Account>Import & Setup>Outlook, messages are downloaded using IMAP. I see headers similar to this (munged for security):
Code:
X-ME-Message-Id: <[email protected]gengine.com>

Received: from outlook.office365.com [40.97.142.210] by messagingengine.com with IMAP for myaddress using TLSv1_2 ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384; Sat, 29 Jun 2019 18:44:46 -0400
So although the X-ME-Message-Id header has a tag which implies POP retrieval, it's obvious from that Received header that IMAP is actually being used. This was automatically set up by Fastmail when I entered my Outlook email address and password.

From memory one used to be able to sort the folder list by folder size.
Can't seem to do that any more??

Surprise - hitting the sort alphabetically button actually changes the folder order, it doesn't just produce a display list.
It looks to be not a reversible action.
Now I need to resort my folders.

oh oh - folder index numbers have gone.
Drag'n'drop is the only option.
That's just facile.

MY GOD!!! I also did it!!!!!

Why did they changed the experienced programmers to so young interns????

I HAVE MORE THAN 200 folders, a tree built on several years, and now they are on alphabetical order!!!!!!

Unbelieveble....

Well..., somdcomputerguy and n5bb, thank you for your messages, but only gardenweed seems to miss the most important feature on a folder size screen when you look for clean the space: the option to sort by size!

And when you have more than 200 folders, it is hard to find the mess that is grabing most of your space.

I used to get the information in just 5 seconds. Now they made it disappear.

The code effort was made 15 years ago. Why take it away?It could just be there, as allways....

I cannot understand it.

It works. That's all I care about.

[For clarity, I was referring to the POP/IMAP distinction, about which I could not give a fig.
I am just as píssed off about the changes to how folders are sorted as anyone else here. Bring back the numbering system!]

Yep.
The children found the password to edit the code.
Now all those "annoying and useless" features are being deleted.
The ones we loved.

Or, maybe, the criterion is "let's remove the features our competition does't offer". "If no one offers it, why should we?"

Now I am afraid that FastMail removes the feature I use more: the possibility we have to create any alias as needed, like <[email protected]yaccount.fastmail.com>, without any previous setup.

If FastMail keeps removing their unique features, wich reason I have to stay?

You comment confuses me. Of course, you can still use subdomain addressing. These features still work as they have for many years:

This program will do that, but you will probably find this process time consuming as it is not part of Fastmails UI.

...
Up until these latest changes folder size was available in the Fastmail UI.
I used it regularly when managing my usage.
You used to be able to display folders in order of size, allowing you to target those using using lots of MB.
It wasn't in the main folder screen. It was on another setting page. The one that showed usage (which seems to have gone).

Settings | Folders will show you that information, but not in order size, instead the actual order of the folders in the tree.

Saying that the information is available but not in order of size is not helpful.
That is my very point.
"not in order of size".
It used to be available.
Now it is not.
This is my point.

This thread started out on the subject of Mail Fetch POP vs. IMAP and then went off in another direction on folder size. I which it stayed on just the one original topic with folder size discussion in its own distinct thread.
