Feature Request: Mobile Shortcut to Permanently Delete
It's great that the "new" interface has a keyboard shortcut to permanently delete individual messages when using a desktop or a laptop. How about adding one for mobile?

Are you really sure you want one? I have only recently started to use a smartphone, and spent a couple weeks, while traveling recently, where I used the FM iOS app regularly. Although I love % in the normal web client, it wasn't long before I realize that it probably would be dangerous for me to have it in the app. It's just too easy to do things by accident.
That said, I can say that because I do not forsee a time any time soon when I will be doing most of my mail on the phone. It will probably remain at best an occasional thing, while I do most email "management" on a desktop machine. |

I've used this feature for years, happily, on my laptop and ipad. A lot of my mail are messages I know I want to delete forever after I've read them, like subway alerts, which can number over 100 a day and only some are meaningful to me and of these for a very short period of time. I get all of them because I use different subway lines and I don't know which ones I'm going to be using in advance so it's simpler to read the ones I need and globally delete the rest. Then there are professional newsletters I want to get but only need to read some of. With delete permanently, it's quick and convenient to read and manage messages at the same time from the same screen.
Fastmail will restore deleted messages so I've never worried about accidental deletions, which in the many years I've used this feature has only happened once or twice. It's a sensible way to provide protection without slowing down the way users work. I hardly ever use the app, even on my phone. My experience is with the webmail interface, which I prefer. Our different ways of working just show that there are as many ways of doing things as there are customers. The classic interface, with its many simple options, made it easy to accommodate everyone. "The classic interface, with its many simple options, made it easy to accommodate everyone." Short, sweet, and to the point. One could not have said it better.
