Frustrated with Fastmail
I just signed up for IMAP services from Fastmail. I have tried to connect using both Thunderbird and Windows Live Mail. I have triple checked all the ports, and turned off the firewall to make sure it wasn't interfering. I get the following error messages:
Thunderbird: "connection to server mail.messagingengine.com timed out" Windows Live Mail: "the connection to the server has failed. Your IMAP command could not be sent to the server, due to non-network errors. This could, for example, indicate a lack of memory on your system." (this one is especially fascinating...) So, no connect. Any ideas on where to start sorting through this? DesertCW |

Welcome to the forums:
I suggest to try an alternate IMAP port and to make sure you are using your full username to login, including the part of the username after the @ sign eg: username @ domain.com (without the spaces) David edit: would a moderator please move this thread to the Fastmail help forum |

Just figured it out -
It wasn't my firewall. It wasn't the firewall in the wireless router. It WAS the firewall in the cable modem (it was blocking the email ports). Isn't security GRAND?? CW |

Another welcome to the EMD Forums, DesertCW!
And if by any chance CW refers to Continuous Wave, an even more enthusiastic welcome. If you have any additional problems you can download the free FastTest tool to a PC. This program will check your connections to FastMail. Bill |
