No Mail

At least one person sent me an email around noon today that did not come through.

Any idea what's going on???

Hi Erik,

Mine seems to be working fine. I have been online a lot today, and all my expected e-mails seem to be coming through.

Just one data point, though.

Sincerely,

- Amica

Yeah, I should say that I have been immediately getting emails that were send to me after about 4:00 p.m. today (California time).

But I also talked to someone who sent me something around noon that did not come through.

Erik, as mentioned in the mail I juust sent, are you positive the mail did not bounce? I could mail all the caltech domains fine, at least.

CrushingForces: Could you post details here or mail them to support? Thanks.

Mystery resolved

Ha!

So, the person who sent the message emails me five minutes ago and tells me it's stuck in her outgoing queue, probably "forever."

This from a Ph.D. computer scientist/UNIX guru...

Perhaps we should get her her own Runbox account ;-)

Thanks for following up, Liz. Sorry for bugging you!

Problems everywhere

Are there some major servers down in the US or something. No matter what E-mail account I use things are gettiing lost or taking hours to get where they are going. I'm in a Yahoo group where everyone seems to be having problems getting mail from one coast to another not matter if we are on group or not.
I don't think this is just Runbox.

Becky,

Not as far as I know (I just checked some major IT sites). A couple of months ago, UUNet had an outage which caused havoc though.

Thanks

Thanks for the quick followup. I know a couple of these folks are on att net. It's probably a combo of att, and yahoo. Big shocker there. When you try to get them at either mail service it doesn't work either.

problem solved.

This may help someone down the road. The email problem that I had been wrestling with was between Yahoo and Nortons. Yahoo was having problems but for anyone to get my mail I ended up having to disable the outgoing scan on mail. This started after updates on Nortons. So after hours of resetting settings I went for the obvious and turn off outgoing and left on incoming.

Thanks for the pointer; Norton is powerful, sometimes a little too powerful...
