Speaking as one of those little old men, I got a trusted account simply by putting the right stuff in Ham. From (senior) memory I don't think I trained any Spam. If I did it was only one or two.

I'll put this online by the time, but to answer the question arising here:

1. I am not making profit out of your spam-training.
It is for a greater good (not Pizza) and should serve everyone.
THIS IS NOT FOR SALE.
2. The 1G rule and trusted stuff is
a: to avoid "nominal members"
just signing up, then leaving again...using it just as
a spam collector
b: to award users helping each other, though in a
very indirect manner.

And then all feedback by the users serves as proof of concept, too.
I can proudly say not having generated any false positives. By getting in touch with the users i make sure to get them reported.

We check once a week the constructed filter of a new user against a set of known spam and ham. Without doing this it's impossible to tell if this guy is a nice friendly user or not, maybe even a spammer hoping to pollute the filter (which is pointless).

I have started with 500 spams and several thousand hams myself, believe me: I do not need your training for myself... and then for selling that system i simply would take the ham of the customer...

I have been using the 'ham-learn' with IMAP since I generally receive no spam, at least as of yet. Hopefully over time, I can also get the increased storage.

However, I notice that when (automatically) placing the emails back into the Inbox folder from the ham-learn one, using IMAP, the received dates have changed to the current date and time. Is it possible to have this system leave the original date and time on these emails, and not be changed? Or is that not possible?

glad to hear that.

Through inserting a header a new file is generated, which has the current time set.

Preserving time stamps is possible, but a little work has to be done. No performance issues about it, so this will happen.

I would like to see two things enabled

1) import/ export of address book

2) ability to pop external accounts

i have a few accounts that dont allow forwarding

do you have any plans to enable these things?

Since you enabled the SMTP relay,how do you control the spammers who use the smtp server for sending spams?
Other than other guys,I may suggest you shutdown the SMTP service to reduce the chance of spams.

From Pubbox.net Web Site:
you should forward some old spammy addresses to it. If your old address doesn't support that, no problem. Send us details and we will fetch your old POP3 or IMAP account.

I would just like to add my thanks for the service. Just signed up and I am shocked how fast the webmail is.. I guess I have been kept in a walled garden by Yahoo/Live Mail for too long.. this is faster than Gmail ajax!

So what isn't? Oh, okay, AIM/AOL isn't. And maybe a few others. Actually, I'm half-kidding, but gmail isn't particularly fast at all through my dialup account, probably slower than most if anything. And almost definitely "buggier" than most in my experience.

OK I agree

It isn't my favourite (gmail) - I hardly ever use it.. too locked into msn/yahoo as I have had the accounts since before 2000.
