Exclamation Clinking on links within email no longer working with Firefox 39

Suddenly, there is a problem with links inside messages when using the web interface within Firefox 39: normal clicking opens a blank window with a URL starting with https://www.fastmail.com/mail/Inbox/xyx with xyw being a long code. Instead, I need to "Control Click" to open the link. This problem does not happen if reading via MS Outlook, or via the web interface on Google Chrome. This may be a problem with Firefox 39, but I post this query here in case other Fastmail users have the same problem and may have found a solution or work-around (besides "Control Clicking").

Same problem. Essentially the same solution - Ctrl+click

It also works to right click on the link for the context menu and then 'Open link in New Tab' but I don't think that's very different. A neater solution would be nice.

Good to know it's not "just me" having this problem, thanks!

In Firefox Preferences/Advanced/General/Accessibility, remove checkmark from "Warn me when websites try to redirect or reload the page".

Thanks but in my options that item did not have a checkmark in the first place.

I can't explain that, but with that box checked FF will not load the link in Fastmail unless you do a Command-click in OS X. Unchecked it goes to the link unassisted.

I'm on Win 8.1. With that preference unchecked a new tab is opened with a very long url in the fastmail.com domain. The tab remains blank and nothing loads.

With the option checked a new tab opens up also but with a warning strip across the top of the page. Once I click 'Allow' the correct page loads.

We had a couple of other reports of this but haven't been able to reproduce it with a clean install of Firefox. This sort of thing is usually the fault of some extension. Can you try it with extensions disabled?

There's some instructions here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb...o-fix-problems

Thanks, Robn. Yes, it works fine in Safe Mode.

I *think* it might be the Adblock Plus extension but I don't have time to be systematic about it just now. I'll report back if I nail it more definitely..

Edit to correct: No, it was actually WOT (Web of Trust). There are a number of unhappy reviews on the web page for that extension saying lots of things are broken since FF39.

Thank you, WOT was indeed the culprit. Luckily, this extension was just updated to fix the problem

Links not working AGAIN using Firefox 48.0.2

Strange re-occurence of this issue: clicking on links within email using Fastmail web interface opens a new tab, but doesn't go all the way to the target site.

Removing Web of Trust (WOT) makes no difference.

Does anyone have the same issue?

No problems with Firefox 48.0.2

I'm using Firefox 48.0.2 on Windows 10 and do not see this problem. Links inside emails in the normal Fastmail web interface work fine for me.

Thanks for your input.

I restarted Firefox in safe mode, to see if the issue might be linked to one of the add-ons / extensions, and indeed, the links do work fine in this mode!

Now, I have to drill down to find out which extension is the culprit this time.

Out of 17 extensions, the culprit was "Flash and Video Download 2.0" which was updated on 13 September.

I will keep disabled until it is updated with a fix.

A fix will be provided in upcoming version 2.01 of this extension.
