mark spam read when marked as spam

Is there a way, perhaps with a rule, to mark spam as "read" when it is marked as spam? What I am doing at the moment is checking the checkbox, marking it as read, then I have to select the checkbox again (because marking it as read un-checks it), then marking it as spam.

That's somewhat inconvenient.

After all, I don't want to read it -- it's spam.
