I don't know, US will try to do what politicians decide, if any. This new law that we discuss is about surviving Russian Internet without any foreign infrastructure (when needed). There is no law on self-cutting :-)

BTW, this law as well as the previous law on keeping personal data inside country are very stimulating for internet business, especially hosting, so it is also positive for mail hosting. Yandex recently started a cloud, Mail.ru did this a year ago.

Sometimes, being in philosophical mood, people in Russia ask themselves rhetorically, why Americans didn't finish us off in 90s when it was easy? ;-)
