mail.mydomain.com redirection failing
Hi,
I have a family account with my own domain and would usually log into the webmail interface with mail.mydomain.com where I would enter my username without the domain and password. Fastmail made a change to this which worked for a while that would redirect me as below: http://mail.mydomain.com -> https://www.fastmail.fm/?domain=mydomain.com Now all that happens when I log in at mail.mydomain.com is a straightforward redirect to https://www.fastmail.fm with no continuation of my domain. I have a CNAME set up for mail.mydomain.com to mail.messagingengine.com.which runs on an external DNS. Is anyone else having this issue? Thanks, Alan |

Have you read about the changes in the Fastmail blog entry posted two weeks ago?
Changes to webmail login I don't have a Family account, but I do have an Enhanced account, and my own domain login works as you describe, adding domain=mydomain.com. Since the URL "mail.messagingengine.com" redirects to "https://www.fastmail.fm/", if you are redirecting references to your domain to "mail.messagingengine.com", then you will go to the basic Fastmail login screen. So I'm guessing that the CNAME DNS entry may be the cause of your problem. Bill |

Hello Bill,
Thanks for your reply, I've got this working with your help, it was the CNAME record for mail.mydomain.com that needed changing. I have a couple of domains that this is happening to, both are on an external DNS. They were set up with a CNAME pointing to mail.messagingengine.com, I had a look at another domain that I have that is on Fastmail's DNS and has the mail.mydomain.com A record entry set to STANDARD_MAIL. I did a lookup on that domain and got the following reply: mail.mydomain.com. 3600 IN A 66.111.4.55 mail.mydomain.com. 3600 IN A 66.111.4.56 I've deleted the CNAME record and replaced it with two A records as above and the domain is forwarding correctly. Regards Alan |
