Party Play List - rules apply

Ok, I can see you're all in the mood for another music thread, so here goes.....

I'm having a Party, please help me compile my play list. My taste is quite varied, songs I accept will be added to my play list in this first post. Please don't be offended if I do not add some of your favs, it's my party after all!

Rules:
1. Must be songs that can be danced to (from the late 50's till present)
2. Must not be the usual predictable songs played at UK parties (YMCA, Park Life etc)
3. Must be songs we all know (self indulgence not permitted)
4. Try to avoid depressing songs - it's a party for goodness sake!!

You are all welcome to use my play list for your own parties

Malc's Party Play List:
My Sharona - The Knack
Back In the USSR - Beatles
Sandstorm - Darude
Place Your Hands - Reef
Get Ready - Temptations
Signed Sealed Delivered - Stevie Wonder
Gangster Trippin - Fat Boy Slim
Brown Sugar - Rolling Stones
September - Earth Wind and Fire
Reward - Teardrop Explodes
All the Things That We have Done - Killers
Let's Dance - David Bowie
Let's Dance - Chris Rea
Under The Broadwalk - Drifters
...................................................ok, your turn!

Did no-one reply to your post in over 3 years??

I trust the party went well . . .

Had a look at your party list.

"3. Must be songs we all know"

errr . . . Sandstorm - Darude . . . straight over my head, sorry!

I suggest:

2468 Motorway - Tom Robinson (no, I'm not!)
8 Days A Week - Beatles
Rebel Yell - Billy Idol
Do Anything You Wanna Do - Eddie & The Hot Rods
Steamy Windows - Tina Turner
China Girl - Bowie
Relax - FGTH (again, no I'm not!)
Dancing In The Streets - Martha Reeves etc.
Billie Jean - Michael Jackson

How's that for starters?

Wink

Can't find a YOUTUBE clip, but . . .

But, in the words of The Raspberries, ain't it a shame the party's over.

I know the horse bolted from the stable years ago, but hay... (pause for effect)

Dreadful jokes aside, here are my song suggestinos

Chris Montez : Let's dance
KC & The Sunshine Band : Get down tonight
James Brown : Get up offa that thing
Four Tops : Loco in Acapulco
Drifters : Kissing in the back row of the movies
Blondie : Maria (also consider their new song "Mother" - shamefully not as well known as it should be)
Marvin Gaye : Got to give it up
Temptations : Treat her like a lady
Commodores : Machine gun
Isley Brothers : That lady
Ohio Players : Fire
Billy Joel : Tell her about it
Daft Punk : One more time
Frank Sinatra : Come fly with me
Primal Scream : Rocks
Johnny Cash : Ring of fire
Sam Cooke : Twisting the night away
Freddie Jackson : Rock me tonight
Curtis Mayfield : Move on up
Frankie Lymon : Why do fools fall in love
Michael Bublé : All I do is dream of you
Average White band : Cut the cake
Beach Boys : Wouldn't it be nice
Isaac Hayes : Do your thing
Basement Jaxx : Red alert
Pretenders : Back on the chain gang
Deniece Williams : Let's here it for the boy
Gerry Rafferty : Get it right next time
Jacksons : Shake your body
Elvis Presley & JXL : A little less conversation
Spencer Davis Group : Gimme some lovin
Kinks : You really got me
Amen Corner : Bend me shape me
Surfaris : Wipe out
Ray Charles & Blue Brothers : Shake a tailfeather
Supremes : You can't hurry love
Luther Vandross : Never too much
Baseballs : Chasing cars <--- Breaking the rules here a bit - a very well known song, but in an upbeat rockabilly arrangement, perfect for dancing. I bet it would go down a storm at a party.
