Legacy IMAP SSL Query

What is the technical difference between the
SSL implementations at "mail" and "insecuressl"?

Is "insecuressl" employing OpenSSL 0.9.8k at default
(SSL/TLS renegotiation allowed)?

Asking because Pegasus Mail www.pmail.com is no longer
able to successfully connect to "mail" using cipher suite
DES-CBC3-SHA which is not a SSLv2 cipher suite.

I also had problems with Pegasus Mail suddenly not connecting to fastmail anymore.
In this pmail-forum a member of the Pegasus Team claims that fastmail is responsible for this problem, not Pegasus Mail:

So who is right?
