They gain (in their minds) credibility. They post several dozens of "legit postings, wait some time, and hope that when they spam, they will be treated leniently as a long time posters.

I agree. Since a username is half the 'process', it is very important not to use the same one all over the place. However, I use the same one in too many of the same places, even though I know I shouldn't. I guess since I use strong passwords, and even 'passphrases' sometimes, I somewhat lack in this procedure.
