Fails to mention S/MIME, which has built-in support on Outlook, Thunderbird, Win Live Mail, Apple Mail. I looked at the GNU PG web site, what a mess of links to nowhere.

The easiest way to encrypt is to use GPG4win and the Enigmail plugin for Thunderbird. APG is also a good app for Android phones.
