How to use Fastmail generated sieve scripts in combination with custom sieve scripts
I'm curious if there's a way to use the rules that Fastmail generates for me with my own custom sieve rules. I don't want to change the rules that Fastmail is generating but I would like to supplement the auto-generated sieve rules with my own sieve rules. Any suggestions on how to do this and tips on getting started with custom sieve rules?

With a little care, the answer is yes.
Open up https://www.fastmail.com/help/technical/sieve.html, scroll down to "Sieve scripts on our beta server" and read all about it. However, a word of warning, you set this up on the beta server, and it all works in the background regardless of whether using beta or regular interfaces, except actions on the normal server that change the sieve script (like changing Rules there) will cause your snippets of custom sieve to be no longer included. You must make such changes only in the beta interface. If you forget, then as soon you remember log in to the beta interface and force the sieve script to be regenerated. I really, really wish this would be moved out of beta. There are customers I do not dare use this with because I know there is a high probability they would break it with a Rule change. |

If you have a simple need you may be able to use rules with the Advanced rule type on the normal (non-beta) system.

I recently started using the beta sieve. It is brilliant. Thanks.

If it is going to be a long time for that to go into production, then i wonder if there could be an alert message about that effect. |
