Also missed PurelyMail. Give it a shot as a successor to Tuffmail (just opened a trial account). After all, Tuffmail was also a one-man show for decades.

Wink Tuffmail.net shutdown timing: updated

John (Capo) is graciously allowing an extra 2 days to transfer email off of his (Tuffmail's) service. Thanks John!

Details

Tuffmail's manage.tuffmail.net admin portal (for customers) had it's standard status header updated to read as below, with 2nd sentence seemingly added ~6pm CST / midnight UTC today, ~30 mins ago.

Quote:
NOTE: Tuffmail is ceasing operation January 1, 00:00:00 UTC.
For customers where months of notice was not sufficient, you have until
Monday morning January 3 00:00:00 UTC to transfer your email.

Tuffmail Shutting Down Tonight

Last post.

Quote:
Hello Tuffmail Domain Customer,

Per previous notices, Fastmail.com is now handling all email for the following domains.

tm20.com
tmbox.com
tmbx.com
tmbx.us
tuffbx.com
tuffmail.cc
tuffmail.co.uk
tuffmail.com
tuffmail.us

If you wanted to keep your email address(es) in one or more of those domains, you should have added them to your Fastmail account by now and be forwarding those email addresses to your Fastmail account.

It may not be too late to do that. Open a ticket with Fastmail Support and ask. It is completely out of our hands now.

All accounts will be suspended by 00:00 UTC January 4, 90 minutes from now.

I'm confirming Tuffmail is down.

https://manage.tuffmail.net portal is no longer functional, IMAPS on mail.mxes.net is no longer responding (even though John extended access to me over the weekend). https://www.tuffmail.com is still showing the original website, not sure how long that will be.

Hopefully John Capo (leader of Tuffmail) can now rest in peace and/or enjoys his next stage of life.

https://www.tuffmail.com is now redirecting to Fastmail.

Why not resuscitate John's tuffmail world? Actually, anyone know why he closed up shop that was so loved and supported?

I'm no technical expert, but I think 1) he did not want to sell his "baby" to a big corporation (and I congratulate him for that); 2) a trustworthy one-man business does not have the resources to keep alive and improve the outdated Squirrelmail setup or to transition to another webmail. My suppositions.
