IE 7 - Somewhere down the road
Bill Gates say's Microsoft will release a version 7 of Internet Explorer.
See the article at Reuters here Excerpt: --------------- Microsoft will release a new version of Internet Explorer, the world's most widely used Web browsing software, with stronger, built-in security features, chairman Bill Gates says. "We have decided to do a new version of Internet Explorer, this is IE 7," Gates said on Tuesday at the RSA Security Conference being held in San Francisco. ---------------- He is probably feeling a little bothered by Firefox's recent increase in popularity. |

I wouldn't go so far as to say it's "definitely untrue" but companies change their product strategies all the time, so with no more effort than a few words slipped into a speech, he can cause havoc for the competition (what large company wants to spend the money/time migrating everyone off IE if they are potentially going to be migrating them all back to IE again within a reasonable amount of time?) without committing Microsoft to actually having to "do" anything much.

IE6 did suffer from lots of vulnerability attack. If MS do put resources in building the NEW IE 7, it's indeed a good news.
However, sometimes, one just can't figure out what MS's priority is. Hope, user need not wait for long before the NEW IE7 launches. trekker |
