MobileMe: Send using external address
Now that MobileMe has (at last) added the ability to send email using an external address, I'm tempted again to switch all my email to MobileMe. But they've done it in a funny way: you can't simply point your domain's MX records to the MobileMe server, but need to have an external SMTP server to send from. Messages sent this way are, though, copied to the Sent Items in your MobileMe account, so users do have a centralised mail store that contains messages sent from MobileMe's servers and any others.
At the moment, I have a FastMail Enhanced account, and so I've simply put in that account's details in the settings for MobileMe's 'Send using external address'. But I wonder if anyone could advise me of any other ways of doing this - or other services that would provide the same function. I'm not sure whether any of the other FastMail accounts would handle this, and I'm not going to pay the cost of an Enhanced account just to get this. A bit of searching online turned up Zonedit.com and Mydomain.com, both of which seem to be able to do this, but I don't know of either of these services. Could anyone advise if I'm even looking in the right direction, or if I could find another solution to this issue? I'm also happy to hear any opinions about MobileMe as main email provider (I started a thread on this topic last year, when I first considered switching to MobileMe, but the improvements that have recently been rolled out make MobileMe much more attractive now...). I am also interested in this and peoples feedback on the mobileme email service in general.
I don't really like the me.com domain and would rather mac.com but these have been stopped. |

mobileme works really nice on blackberry.
instant push email and delete works fine from both desktop and bb (deletes in both) This may replace yahoo as my fast push email on bb. |

When using a BB, do sent messages get transferred to the 'sent items' folder (as they do with Yahoo)
