How to retrieve new email?

The old interface had a button for retrieving new email, but the new one doesn't. I now have to refresh the entire page in my browser in order to get new messages -- the program does not automatically retrieve them (I know because I've tested). Is anyone else having this problem? (I use Safari) Or is just another one of the "features" of the new interface?

Welcome to EMD.

I think you will find that a feature of the Ajax UI is that it automatically refreshes, and you don't need to encoursge it - hence the lcak of the poll window.

If you are uncomfortable don't forget you can still use the Classic UI.

NJSS,

I had read that it was supposed to automatically refresh, but mine isn't doing that. I've tested it several times, and it doesn't work.

I'm not necessarily uncomfortable with the new interface -- I don't like it as much as the old one, but I'd rather get used to it now. I just need to know whether this is a FM bug or just something I'll have to live with (if I decide to stay with FM).

Thanks!

Can one tell it to refresh in any other way than doing F5?
F5 seems to be a drastic and slow way to wish for a new
check?

What version of Safari do you have and what OS are you using?

I've just tested it on my Mac on OS X 10.8.2 with Safari 6.01 and it works, are you running any extensions that would block it?

You can type 'u' to get it to refresh the folder, it will save you refreshing the entire page.

ladybugg I can not test with safari but
on my FireFox I noticed now that on
the new interface in one look on the
inbox button there is a small icon
to the right of word inbox and that symbol
if one mouse over it says Shortcut to u
so that hopefully will refresh it.

when I tried it I had no email not read
so nothing seems to happen but
hopefully it does check with some
internal refresh.

thanks Alan for making me aware of the "u" thing.

drew and apl,

Thanks for your input! I've located the "refresh" icon next to "Inbox" (although it's almost the same color as the background so it doesn't show up very well, and if there is unread mail in the inbox, the # of unread trumps the refresh icon, but whatever), and it seems to work, as does the "u".

One problem solved!
