You have to be a paying user of iCloud to use iCLoud+ ie you have to be paying for extra storage above the free allocation (5GB I think) that every iCloud user gets.

There are reports at least some people are being upgraded to iCloud+ for no charge, but I assume only those who had already been paying for additional storage: https://www.imore.com/apple-confirms...ios-15-rollout

Correct. Users paying for extra storage get upgraded for 'free' to iCloud+

If you are paid user for storage you should have been automatically upgraded.
I am not sure if there are restrictions in particular countries ?
I would try asking in Apple community discussions - https://discussions.apple.com/welcome or raising an issue with Apple support.

I was initially super excited for this since I am a Mac guy. Don't bother. It's super glitchy and lacks many options.

This guy claims that iCloud+ domain email uses Proofpoint's email relay.

While I can’t be sure why that is, a bit of digging unearthed that iCloud Mail is frontend by Proofpoint — so the catch-all limitation might be a consequence of complexity integrating the custom email domain feature with a relay that has been in place since iCloud’s beginnings.

Fine. Since the latest updates of IOS and macOS it became more integrated in the OS.
Disadvantage is you can only use up to five custom domains, with up to three personalised email addresses per domain. No catch all.
No problems either with Hide My Email.
It is possible to redirect your domain email (and 'hide my email') to another email address than icloud.com

When I last tried iCloud with my own domain, after the DNS settings were set up on my domain provider side, when I did a test, I only got a score of 5.5/10 on newsletter test.

Anyone try this lately, or can try to see how it goes? DKIM and SPF checks may not be working right. I don't want my domain email to be spammy.
