Suddenly cannot send e-mails today?
Hi there
It's my first time of using the forum this morning - please can anyone help? Out of the blue, we cannot send e-mail this am and receive this message - not just me, but other users of the same account - settings at our end have not been changed by any users.... I have read all the help tppics on the site, but why would we suddenly need to change settings? we've never had a problem before, so I wonder if it is at your end? The server for account "gill9" returned the error "5.7.8 Error: authentication failed: authentication failure." Your username/password or security settings may be incorrect. Would you like to try re-entering your password? I hope you ca help - my outbox isfilling-up and the blood pressure is also rising. Thanks everyone x |

Please provide us what more information, like:
- What (email) service provider you're using. - What e-mail client you're using. Quote:

Hi
In response to your request for more info: Please provide us what more information, like: Sky provides the broadband and has done for the last 2 years - and we are receiving mail today no problem. - What (email) service provider you're using. - What e-mail client you're using. pop3.hosts.co.uk for all incoming and mail.messagingengine.com for all outgoing. Namesonthe.net host our e-mail names. All I can say is this has worked without issue for the last 14 months, but neither gill AT levettfamily. co.uk or darren AT levettfamily. co.uk can send e-mails and we are both getting the message I sent previously. I hope this helps - Moderator: Fixed "live" email addresses to avoid spambots. Last edited by Sherry : 20 Jan 2011 at 02:02 AM. |

And you still haven't told us which client (i.e. the email handling software on your computer) you use. |

response to Robert - cannot send mail
Hi
I am using Outlook 11 for mac and my husband is using Outlook 2007 for PC. I have been in meetings all pm - sorry I'd have comeback sooner and I have another meeting now and a mounting Outbox. I cannot stress enough that I haven't changed anything since last eve, that could cause this issue We have - just in case - unplugged the router etc for 10 mins I have an old company e-mail address, that sends email via smtp.gmail.com and I have done a test and that is working, so I do agree - has something been changed at the Fastmail end - is there anyone who can check and help me to resolve please? Thanks Gill. |

This may not help but you could try changing your Outgoing (SMTP) port from 25 to 587 or SSL port 465 in case your ISP has started blocking port 25.

Please check the user name and password being used for the SMTP server mail.messagingengine.com. Try using these to login via the web interface at www.fastmail.fm. Can you log in? Can you send a test message via the web interface?

the account is locked
Thanks Tim for suggesting I try to send an e-mail - at least now I can see there is a problem - the account is locked.
Very odd, as the status page is fine and I have not used too much bandwidth etc and I am fully paid-up as a full member. I have raised a docket and I do hope someone will help me to get back on track, as I am now terribly behind with the day's work. Thanks again Gill. |
