Difficulty logging on to Gmail

When my wife tries to log into her Gmail account, it appears to log in, the list of received messages appears momentarilyon the screen, then the programme goes into refresh mode and re-loads. This process continues indefinitely so the list of messages, read and unread, never stays stable on the screen for long enough to click on any of tjhe messages and deal with them.
My Gmail service is on the same PC but works perfectly well.
Any suggestions?

If you ask your wife to try to login to her account using a different web browser, or better yet a different computer, it might help to define exactly where the problem lies.

Does your wife check her e-mail via browser (e.g. Internet Explorer) or via a program (e.g. Outlook Express, Thunderbird)?

Do you use the same browser/program?

Try emptying the Trash.
Check if there is a clean-up or compact or rebuild option with your browser/program.

Move messages out of the inbox, it may be overloaded.
