Unhappy I HOPE that's good news

But every time I hear about a free e-mail provider updating its services and hear something about how great the new service will be, I get a little nervous about the "free" part. I know, a lot of services HAVE updated quite nicely without mandating fees, but ...

We'll see

The message guest2k posted (which is on the main Postmark page) is pretty much all we know now ... unless guest2k knows a Postmark admin personally. or guest2k emailed Postmark and actually got an answer. No other info has been given. I guess we'll have to see ...

But I think I'll forward my most crucial messages elsewhere, just in case. Too bad if Postmark DOES go for-fee. I had that account for a loooooooong time and really liked it, for the most part.

Now Postmark isn't working at all.

Postmark hasn't been working with me for a couple of days. I DO hope it's just a temporary glitch, and not a pulling of the plug, or the calm before the "for-fee" storm.

It's back now ...

I didn't see the message. Nothing new about the "new" service yet.

The sign-up form is operational. They ask a LOT of demographic questions (age, marital status, residence, work location, income, interests - even political affiliation). Then they display a list of a dozen advertising categories, and you're allowed to "opt out" from only three!

The info requests are way too intrusive, and there's spam on top of it. I didn't sign up.

I have had trouble accessing postmark.net for the past week. They had a period of maintenance, but that is now over and I still get a bad authorization page when I try to sign in. Also, the support email address is non-operative. Why cannot regular patrons sign in to their account now?

Thanks in advance for any assistance or advice one can offer.

Yes, I began to subscribe, but I quit when they asked about my ethnic background, etc.

In all fairness to Postmark re spam, they don't overdo it, IMO. You might get a couple a day at best. Many days, you don't get anything at all. The interface is set up so that you can delete the offending messages if you really don't want to read them. While I don't LIKE the spam policy, I've seen e-mail providers who generate a LOT more spam.

Just thought I'd mention that. It's not as if you get dozens of spam mails a day. I prefer the mail approach to pop-ups if I HAVE to have ads. And I do understand that ads are a fact of life for most e-mail providers.

I guess only thing I'm 'impressed' is their domain name 'postmark.net' but beyond that nothing impress me..
