more emails that closed

here are some you have not reported:

bangkok.com (thai portal) discontinued their email last October, with 60 days notice

lovemail.com (went off line for 10 days, then announced they were back, but as a paid service, and with no grace period)

philpost.gov.ph (their web site went down; they used big mailboxes, but were unique as they were the only .gov free e-mail service)

pinoycentral.com (announced on June 11 they were closing their email June 15th-a great loss as they were one of the few emails with an easy sign up form-no annoying questions about name, date of birth etc- and great interface besides)

ozbytes.net.au (the entire portal will close June 30th)

To be fair, lovemail did explain why they had to start charging with no warning...womenmail, alienmail, and several others were part of that, too...they used to be Chek sites...

lovemail

lovemail could have given a 30 day free trial, so you could wind up things. while I believe that if an email service wants to charge they have that right, there should be some kind of reasonable notice. 30 or even 60 days to be fair to those who have used that service.

So right, ikxu!

One of the main reasons why emailaddresses.com is probably one of the most current, updated e-mail sites out there is that people will promptly post when a service goes under, goes for-fee, or just goes fishy. Edwin does a great job, but he simply CANNOT check every e-mail service all the time. (I ASSUME he has a life!) It's people like you and others who post the latest news and help him keep the site as updated as possible, with the ways e-mails constantly change.
