What's up with sending emails the last couple of days?

What's up with sending emails the last couple of days. I click "Send" on the web interface and it sits and sits and sits and sits and typically times out the first time. If I try again, it goes through quickly.

This is getting old fast.

Angry

today something comparable happened to me.
I clicked on "send" and a "this page canĀ“t be displayed" error appeared. I clicked on back and the mail was gone. Luckily it was a very short one.

Are you doing a secure login? Probably connected with this change Can someone confirm?

I'll check with Rob.

Is this repeatable, or does it only happen sometimes?

Can people tell me what OS, browser they're using? Secure vs normal logins? etc.

Can you try this:
1. Click 'Compose'
2. Compose a very quick message and click 'Send' within 30 seconds

Vs

1. Click 'Compose'
2. Compose a message
3. Leave the machine for 2 minutes. Don't do anything with the machine (don't open another window, don't read emails in another window, etc). Literally walk away from the machine
4. Click 'Send'

I logged in soley to test this for y'all :-) and didn't experience any delay either way. This is with a member account logged into secure using Firefox .9.2, following Rob's instructions both ways. So, I guess it only happens sometimes...

Rob, I tested both scenerios exactly the way you said. I even walked away from my PC for the second one. ;-)

Had no problem sending either email and I'm one of the thread originators for this problem.

It appears it is random (don't ya just love random non-duplicatable problems? :-) ).

MailDaemon, Some details might help:
1. What browser are you using? Or rather, What browser were you using when the timeouts occured?
2. Were you using a secure login/connection?

I've just made a change that might help, but I'm not sure, hard to tell when the problem is intermittent

The next time it happens, can you come back and let me know, and see if you can remember some details.

For instance:
1. Had you accessed another FM page recently before you clicked Send? (that means was it a quick email, or did you have FM open in another window/tab and viewed another page)
2. What browser/OS?
3. Was it a secure/normal login?

The more precise the details, always the better

Rob

thanks for all the answers.

It happened only once!

win2000, I used IE with newest updates...no wait the last (!) cumulative patch for IE6 was just downloaded not installed.

I used secure login.

I surfed with other windows open and wrote this "quick email" with changing windows, so it certainly took 1-2 min or so.

my checks here at home with Firefox 0.92 are all fine!

i've experienced this problem a couple of times now,

1. i went to the compose page after reading a mail (session started ~ 5 minutes prior to that)

2. IE 6 / Windows 98

3. https (window launched using fastcheck).

The system thinks forever: i hit send again and it goes thru' fine (message sent only once).

send failure with IE 6

This began happening to me routinely using IE 6 (Win2000), secure. ie. I reply to a message and click send, seems to hang indefinitely. Does not occur with Firefox.

Ive seen the slow send messsages for the last few days. My coworkers also. We sent in bug reports but no reply not even the automatic one.

It happens on xp, win 98, and mac. If when you click send it hangs up you can open a new browser and see the message you sent in the sent folder. Ive even been able to read the messages I send elsewhere (cc copy) before the send window comes back.

Can everybody who reports on this problem please include their browser name and version, OS, and whether they are using SSL? Without that info bug reports aren't very helpful...
