As of about 12:15 am, Eastern Time (US) I can not access fastmail with IMAP email client, nor POP (ePrompter, nor Web interface. I get:
Bad Gateway The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server. accel: connect to 10.202.2.133:8080 failed while processing http://server2.internal:8080/mail/lo...Authenticate@0 |

According to the Admin screen, Fastmail has now been down for approx. 9 minutes.
At 20 minutes of downtime, the system will automatically page Jeremy and Rob (unless it self-fixes in the meantime due to the various diagnostics they have running) So a few more minutes of patience should see a response. |

404 Not Found
A few minutes ago, I was getting Bad Gateway, now I am getting "404 Not found." Does/could this mean anything specific to my account?

Seems to be working just fine for me.
My first three attempts failed, though. Email that was supposed to be there, is. Status OK. 10:43 PM MST. |

Yes, I logged in successfully too!
I make that an 18 minute downtime, so (apparently) the self-diagnostics worked perfectly to fix the problem since the page would not have been sent for another 2 minutes. Of course, we'll no doubt get official comment soon enough |

Actually, we get paged after 2 minutes for most failures (the 20 minute check is much more thorough, but most problems are picked up in the 2 minute check).
The problem is that server2 locked up completely, and we had to reboot. I'm talking to Rackspace about getting a new server set up right away. Last edited by Jeremy Howard : 1 Oct 2002 at 04:01 PM. |

I just chatted to our account manager and he's going to get a quote to us within 24 hours. It'll then be around 2 days to get the new server set up at Rackspace, and probably around 2 more days to migrate all the accounts across. Fingers crossed that it behaves until that's all done!
(If it doesn't, it's not the end of the world--we'll just have to get the off-site backup or physically transfer the disks into another machine; but it will mean downtime, which no-one likes!) |
