It looks as though all liabilities and contracts are being transferred to Opera so the service should continue according to the original contract.

I think its really sad as we had a good relationship with with F/m in getting excellent customer service I feel now we will lose that.
I wonder will Rob still be involved ? and will they continue with the F/m type interface ? so many questions now. |

Heh, such a small world. Norway becoming the center of the email world?
Regarding Opera, I'd have no concerns with letting them control my data. Good luck to FastMail and to Opera. It'd be interesting to see how things go on from here. |

Can't decide whether this is a good thing or not... Fastmail has a large fanbase, so I would assume that they would be concerned about keeping those customers. I would sincerely hope this is a good thing. /cl |

wow.. so many years since my last post in this forum.
and I'm back cause of this news! I wonder what will happen to Rob ? I only wish the same service will be available and no drastic change made by opera. I wonder also what is the motive behind opera... |

I agree... but I guess business is business and there was no way they could compete with the big boys forever. It does look like the staff will be transferring over, so maybe they will try to keep up the customer care too.
On the plus side, Opera have a good reputation for community too.... they don't just want to steamroller the competition but rather try to genuinely innovate. I'm just glad Google didn't buy them! |

I'm a bit blown away by this but thank goodness I like the Opera browser a LOT!
I'm going to take a wait-and-see attitude here because FM has been my primary email address for years and years and it would take forever to move it all over to something else. |

I'm not sure if it's good or bad. It might mean some things suck as calendar and contacts sync are developed though like so many of us have been asking for.

This is good for one reason:
1. Investment I, for one, hope this will mean a world-class web interface. |

FYI, if you click the link to the accept/reject page that you received from FM whilst logged into the FM Beta server (in a browser) you'll get an error. You have to be logged in to the main server.
