repeated instances of same legit email
The past three days I've received about 25-30 of the same legitimate "group" (multi-person) email to one of my Fastmail addresses. I emailed the sender about it, wondering if there is a server problem on his end, but that doesn't seem to be registering, or at least hasn't gotten a response. It's just this one email, no others. What might be causing this? I use POP3.

Sounds like you've got some sort of email loop going on. Can happen when you POP the email from one address to another and then the second address is set to forward the email back to the first address. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Email_...ending%20limit.

Thanks, but I don’t understand the explanation relative to my situation. It seems an automatic response is involved, but where given that it wouldn’t be on my end, afaik. The email was sent to a large group of addresses listed in “To,” instead of bcc.

Turned out Spectrum had the email in line in a server bank stack that would keep repeating forever. Took the sender hours on the phone with MS support in Bangalore to locate the problem.
