Coloured Calendar Events

I have just tried the Fastmail Calendar for the the first time since its launch and am very pleased to not my complex Gmail calendar now syncs perfectly - maybe time to jump ship!

I can see no was to assign different colours to different classes of event, and a search of this forum returns nothing.

Is colour coding events possible? Am I missing something? Are there are plans for a technicolor calender?

You can choose from ten colors when creating or editing a calendar. In other words, you just create multiple calendars which are colored differently.

Yes. That I have seen.

Not quite what I want. I use multi-all-day events a lot to remind me where I will be in residence, and to show the holidays and movement of others. I don't really want to run multiple calendars for this. I will have to live with the monochrome approach and hope!

For example, I run a banner right across the calendar in one colour for my Cyprus visits and another colour for when I am in UK. I makes it easier not to accept appointments on one side of Europe when I am at the other! The visits or absences of other key persons are similarly flagged.

For me, blue might mean medical stuff, green would be money-related events, red would be work-related, etc., but all my color-coded calendars display at once. Don't yours?

Well yes, of course they would, but that is not what I was asking.

Calendar programs I have used before have allowed events (or classes of events) to be assigned different colours within the same calendar

That is how my Gcal is set up, and the colours are lost on import.

It seems what I want cannot be done.

I can live with it.

Ah. Okay, thanks for the clarification.

Yeah, the unique color coding of individual events in Google calendars is lost on import, not just here with FM, but any third-party program or service I've tried. It's a nice feature, but it's so frustrating that nothing I've tried supports it. Would be great if FM were to support that, or at least have event-based native color coding as well. So +1 to the OP.

The ability to assign a colour to an event would be a great feature.

What do others think?

What can you do for us, Fastmail Team?
