Thumbs down why's fastmail.ca smaller?

Why is Fastmail.ca smaller with regards to minimum space? Why can't the different categories-levels of membership be same as in U.S.? Not too please with this treatment...

Probably because its a completely different company from fastmail. (I note on one of the fastmail.ca pages that its 'totally Canadian owned', whereas fastmail.fm is Australian). (Note that I didn't create an account and logon, so I don't know if they're a fastmail.fm reseller - I don't think any resellers exist (yet?))

And, of course, there's no reason to be displeased. Just use fastmal.fm instead of fastmail.ca (though, you won't be able to be 'you@fastmail.ca' obviously)

Telling fastmail.fm that your fastmail.ca account is smaller is like telling fastmail.fm that your hotmail account is smaller

P.S. Its like blaming SPAM (http://www.spam.com) for all the spam messages we get

They are totally different companies and Fastmail.fm is a lot richer feature and support wise.

Question

How can they also call themselves fastmail. This is very misleading. Haven't fastmail.fm filed a patent for its name? Who started first?

I bet there are a few more Fastmails too actually. They own the name, Fastmail.fm is Fastmail.FM, not Fastmail. Fastmail.ca is the same way. There are a bunch of domain extensions, so there are alot of Fastmails unless a companies buys every extension out. I think thats basically how it would work in this case.

fastmail.ca has a Canadian trademark. fastmail.fm has an Australian trademark.

won't it be so confusing?

i just found out thru altavista that there's at least ten other email providers called fastmail and the .dk one is a xxxx email provider.

just hope that the good reputation of fastmail.fm won't be borrowed or tarnished by other providers.

but it won't be so confusing if fastmail.fm could just buy the .com, net and org extension

I just signed a Canadian friend with fastmail(.fm) account up for a fastmail.ca account with the same username... so he can use it as a backup email account.

A good job he's not Danish<laugh>

A Canadian got a fastmail.ca address
If he were Danish it might have been fastmail.dk
Fastmail.dk is used for xxx mail (see above)

i guess some mail inteded for fastmail.dk will end up on fastmail.com, but i doubt very much someone will accidentely send it to fastmail.fm, so maybe it's a good thing fastmail doesn't have the dot com
